Description
Small businesses have faced constant challenges, even before the pandemic. In order to support our local small business, we need to continually equip those providing technical assistance to entrepreneurs with innovative skills and strategies to strengthen local business. Bay Path University (formerly Cambridge College), Mel King Institute for Community Building, and Mass Development (formerly Mass Growth Capital Corporation) formed a partnership to deliver innovative programming designed to enhance the skills and resources of business development professionals who are committed to the successful launch and growth of small businesses across the Commonwealth.
We are pleased to be delivering our 7th cycle of this certificate for TA providers who are committed to supporting the successful launch and growth of local small businesses.
The program will offer 6 modules over 12 3-hour sessions of training (9:30am - 12:30pm) to be held online via Zoom starting on Wednesday, April 9th on Wednesdays until June 25th, 2025 (with the exception of ONE session on Tuesday, June 17).
The courses will be taught by seasoned business professionals including Chris Hunter (LEAF), Tina Petigny (LISC Massachusetts), Amy Shapiro (MCLA, FCCDC), Traci Talbert (FCCDC), and Priya Lane (Lawyers for Civil Rights).
The program modules include:
- Module 1 - Introduction to Small Business Environment
- Module 2 - Business Planning Basics; Workplace Culture and Belonging
- Module 3 - Bookkeeping and Forecasting
- Module 4 - Marketing Fundamentals & Brand Management
- Module 5 - Small Business Legal Overview
- Module 6 - Small Business Coaching

The program is open to anyone working as a business counselor or technical assistance provider to small businesses.
