We are excited to announce an upcoming train the trainers session for the curriculum Transforming White Privilege: A 21st Century Leadership Capacity (TWP). This 2.5 day workshop gives participants the opportunity to experience the full curriculum, as well as to engage with fellow facilitators around best practices for implementing it within their own networks, organizations and spheres of influence. The TWP curriculum is designed to help current and emerging leaders from a variety of sectors better identify, talk about and intervene to address white privilege and its consequences. It is designed to be of use to white people and people of color.
This train the trainer session is for people who are interested in adding explicit though not exclusive attention to white privilege and white supremacy to their current racial equity and related trainings. We hope to engage with facilitators who will be able to share the curriculum among systems and communities in the Boston region.
The session will be led by two of TWP’s creators Shakti Butler, PhD and Sally Leiderman. Shakti is Founder and President of World Trust Educational Services, a non-profit transformative educational organization. Rooted in love and justice, World Trust produces films, curricula, workshops and programs that are catalysts for institutional, structural and cultural change. Shakti is an inspirational facilitator, trainer and lecturer who is sought after by schools, universities, public and private organizations, and faith-based institutions. Sally is a co-founder and President of Center for Assessment and Policy Development (CAPD), and an experienced evaluator of complex, multi-year, multi-site and multi-sector community change efforts, social justice initiatives and community/foundation partnerships. She also writes about and trains on white privilege and racial equity at structural, institutional and system levels, and presents on ways of embedding a racial equity lens into the practice of evaluation.
This training is sponsored by the Hyams Foundation in partnership with CAPD, TSNE MissionWorks and the Mel King Institute for Community Building.
