Ibram X. Kendi is a New York Times bestselling author and the founding director of The Antiracist Research & Policy Center at American University in Washington, DC. A professor of history and international relations, Dr. Kendi is a contributor at The Atlantic and CBS News. He is the author of The Black Campus Movement, which won the W.E.B. Du Bois Book Prize, and Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, which won the National Book Award for Nonfiction. His most recent book, How to Be an Antiracist, reenergizes and reshapes the conversation about racial justice in America and points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other.

The coronavirus is disproportionally harming people of color and illustrating in even starker relief the historical and systemic racism and discrimination that puts them at risk. We have an obligation to center racial equity in the response and recovery to the pandemic and its financial fallout. Instead of working within the framework of policies and systems already in place, most of which actively or passively perpetuate racism and disproportionate harm to people of color, Dr. Kendi urges us to develop policies and programs that are explicitly anti-racist and offers us guidance on how to do so.

Our housing and homelessness response to COVID-19 must center racial equity and address systemic inequities and discrimination. Join us for this important conversation with Ibram X. Kendi on Racial Equity During and After the COVID-19 Pandemic on May 21, 2:30-3:30 pm ET. Register today at: https://bit.ly/2TaN6Sr
