Implementing Racial Equity Through Human Resources
Are you looking for ways to assess how well your organization is operationalizing its stated values around diversity, inclusion, and equity? Are you ready to take action to change organizational policies, practices and culture, but feel overwhelmed or unsure of where to start?
This highly participatory workshop will draw on the experiences of participants, asking them to reflect on the current state of their organizations and plan how to move forward. We operate from the understanding that working toward racial equity is an ongoing process and not a task that can simply be checked off a list. Together, we will build skills and confidence in techniques for advancing organizational conversations and practices to improve racial equity. Participants will leave with an action plan to bring their organization’s human resources practices closer in alignment with a commitment to racial equity.
- Assess your organization’s current human resources practices using a racial equity lens
- Understand how your organization can better align your human resources practices with your racial equity vision and values
- Create an action plan of your next steps in transforming your human resources practices to promote racial equity
- Learn skills and techniques to drive forward conversations and processes related to racial equity issues so you can make real change
Staff who are responsible for or have influence over human resources functions within their nonprofit. Workshop participants should enter this workshop already having some level of familiarity with racial equity concepts. The Moving Beyond Diversity to Inclusion training would be an excellent introduction.
