Arts and Equity in the North Shore
Join the Mel King Institute and North Shore CDC for an interactive workshop on the Punto Urban Art Museum.
This workshop will include a presentation on the comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy undertaken in the Point neighborhood in Salem by North Shore Community Development Coalition, Inc. along with key allies in the neighborhood, in city government and with a host of partner agencies. The presentation will include the background, theory and detail on the launch of the Punto Urban Art Museum, an open air street art museum launched by NSCDC in 2017 to break down the divide between the Point neighborhood and the rest of the community.
The workshop will be followed by lunch at 96 Lafayette Street, NSCDC's main office, then followed by a walking tour of the Punto Urban Art Museum.
Topics discussed will include:
- Planning for neighborhood revitalization
- Creative Placemaking
- Public art as a tool for community development
