Description

As we celebrate Black Philanthropy Month, we invite you to join us in honoring the rich legacy and vibrant future of African-descent giving. Philanthropy has always been a fundamental part of the Black experience throughout the African Diaspora, and this enlightening session explores the historical and current impact of Black philanthropists on our communities and society at large.

Together, we'll uncover the untold stories of Black philanthropists across time and space, revealing powerful lessons about resilience, innovation, and the transformative power of collective action. We'll discuss ways to embrace more inclusive approaches to philanthropy, from broadening definitions to identifying more ways for everyone to contribute their time, talent, treasure, and testimony.

Attendees will leave with:

  • A renewed appreciation for the vital role of Black philanthropy in driving social change
  • Actionable insights from historical and contemporary examples of Black-led giving and community building
  • Strategies for mobilizing diverse philanthropic resources and partners to amplify impact

This session is open to and encouraged for everyone committed to advancing racial equity and social justice. It is ideal for nonprofit and philanthropy leaders, especially development staff, non-development staff who play a role in resource development, board members who raise funds, and consultants to social impact organizations.

Join us in celebrating Black Philanthropy Month by learning from the past, engaging in the present, and co-creating a future where Black philanthropic leadership is recognized, supported, and scaled for transformative impact. Together, we can harness the power of our collective giving to build a more just and equitable world.
